Your Next Adventure: Finding Excitement in Everyday Life

July 01, 20254 min read

Welcome to our Marriage War and Peace blog for July!

When was the last time you felt a jolt of excitement that had nothing to do with deadlines, appointments, or family obligations?

For many battle-weary wives, adventure can start to feel like something reserved for bucket lists, vacation days, or a distant version of ourselves we can barely remember. But what if adventure isn’t something you have to schedule for someday? What if it could begin right now, right where you are?

Adventure doesn’t have to mean booking a flight or scaling a mountain. Sometimes, it simply means stepping out of your comfort zone and into a new experience.

This month let’s redefine adventure. Let’s make space for the kind of excitement that nourishes your soul and adds fresh energy to your life as a woman, partner, and individual.

In this month’s article, we’ll focus on:

  • Turning a To-Do List into a Sacred Adventure

  • 6 ways to invite adventure into your everyday life

  • The Comfort Book

Turning a To-Do List into a Sacred Adventure

The other weekend, I found myself staring at a growing stack of business cards collected from networking events—an admin task I’d been putting off. But instead of treating it like another item to check off my list, I decided to make it an adventure.

I lit my favorite incense and sat down with my runes. I drew a single rune for guidance on how to build true relationship capital with the names on those cards. The rune I pulled? Othila—the symbol of heritage, connection, and lasting values. Perfect. I took that as my cue to transform this mundane moment into something sacred.

I wrote an invocation to bless each card I touched, then entered the details into my contacts and a Google sheet—yes, even the data entry became part of the ritual. With each person I emailed, I blessed the message and the recipient, giving thanks to the universe for guiding our connection.

When I finished, I placed my hands over the envelope where I store my cards and whispered a final blessing of gratitude.

What could have been boring became beautiful. That day, I didn’t just process business cards—I followed my curiosity, infused it with intention, and turned a small moment into an everyday adventure.

6 Ways to Invite Adventure into Your Everyday Life

Sometimes, the most meaningful adventures are the ones that happen in our everyday
lives—when we step outside our usual routines and welcome something new. Below are six simple, soul-nourishing ways to invite more adventure into your daily rhythm, no passport required.

  1. Try a New Hobby

Have you always wanted to try your hand at pottery? Or perhaps you're curious about salsa dancing? Even stepping outside the lines of your regular routine can invigorate your spirit. Embracing a new hobby, no matter how playful, can lead to personal growth and a renewed sense of self.

  1. Be a Tourist in Your Town

Search for local events, hidden gems, or nature trails you haven’t visited. Exploring your hometown with fresh eyes can make even familiar places feel like new terrain.

  1. Plan a Micro-Adventure

A micro-adventure is a small, intentional break from routine. Think picnic at sunset, stargazing from the backyard, or breakfast at a new café on a weekday. These small changes bring freshness to everyday life.

  1. Create a Yes Day

For one day, open yourself up to spontaneity. Whether it’s taking a different route home, treating yourself to a solo matinee, or calling a friend just because—let your sense of curiosity guide you.

  1. Shake Up Your Routine

Drive a different way to work. Rearrange a room in your house. Start your morning with music instead of your to-do list. Tiny shifts can create space for big energy.

  1. Leave Room for Surprise

Instead of over-scheduling every moment, leave a little space for the unexpected. Let your weekend plans be flexible. Let the day unfold with more flow than force. Magic often shows up when you’re not trying so hard.

This July, as the days stretch longer and the sun warms our skin, give yourself permission to awaken your inner explorer. You’ve spent so long showing up for others. Now’s the time to show up for the part of you that’s hungry for surprise, play, and excitement.
